DESCRIPTION:Pack 554 Families\,It is time to finalize our planning for the spring family campout at Stephen F. Austin State Park. Please read the information below\, and if you plan to attend fill out this form prior to Friday\, March 6th:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd2pErRZaZXBcWuOyAE3j1bW0DfBIDFBB09gcH-6RV2V1bRnA/viewformThe campsite allows a maximum of 60 people\, so we will need to cut off the sign-ups when we reach that number. While we have a reservation for two nights (Friday and Saturday)\, it is fine to show up on Saturday and just stay for one night. After the sign up is cut off\, I will send out more information and sign ups for families to help out with meals/activities/etc.What (Tentative Itinerary):Friday Night - arrive in the afternoon and set up camp. Families are on your own for dinner.Saturday - breakfast as a group\, activities (see below)\, lunch and dinner as a groupSunday - light breakfast as a group\, pack up and head outActivities:Games and events organized by our group (please help with this!)Go Hiking or Biking on the many Trails available at the parkComplete scout adventures (organized by den leaders)\nFacilities:The campsite is close to a bathroom with running water\, but has no showers available. There is no power at the campsite\, so need to plan accordingly to bring batteries and plan to charge electronics in vehicles during the day\, if needed. SUMMARY:BAC BALOO training (for adults)
DESCRIPTION:Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) training has recently been revised and is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event\, including pack camping\, overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. This includes what used to be part of OWLS (Outdoor Webelos Leadership Skills).  BALOO training is now comprised of two components  an online component\, and a practical\, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a trained Cub Scout outdoor leader.  The online component contains introductory and basic information and must be completed prior to the practical component at my.scouting.org. The practical component is an overnight that takes about 16-hours to complete and will include meals. Dens participate in competitions that require Scouting skills. The dens are judged on den flag and yell\, resources\, leadership\, teamwork\, skill demonstration\, and Scout spirit.\nDens compete for 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd in the following events: first aid\, fire building\, Scouting knowledge\, and knots. There are demonstrations along the trail to fill the time between challenges. The scavenger hunt is a day-long event\, with the goal of collecting as many troop tokens as possible.
