SUMMARY:Troop Campout -Fort Frederick State Park
DESCRIPTION:Son of a Gun: Muskets and Cannons\nScouts will be camping at Fort Frederick State Park.  We will meet at Scout Hall at 6:30 pm to pack the trailer and leave for the site.  The park will be hosting a French and Indian Muster on September 20-21\, when French\, British\, and American Indian reenactors will assemble. On Saturday\, the troop will visit the 18th-century living history demonstrations and battle reenactments\, which will take place from 9 am to 4 pm.  We invite our friends to join us for the entire weekend or just for lunch and the daytime activities on Saturday\, whichever fits their schedule best.  Please be aware that if you do not enter the Fort with the group\, you may be charged an entrance fee.  Youths camping at the youth group site and entering as a group are free. Scouts will be taking a packed lunch into the Fort\, but vendors will also sell food and artisan wares.\nPlease note there is only parking for 3 vehicles and the trailer at the youth group site. DESCRIPTION:Family Camping at Calvert Cliffs State Park\, spending the day wading in the waters\, and fossil hunting.Join us for a fun weekend with old friends and new from Troop 742!The Calvert Cliffs beach area is a beautiful sandy stretch located along the Chesapeake Bay. The cliffs expose the remains of prehistoric species. Just a 10-minute drive away is the Calvert Marine Museum\, which offers hands-on experiences about the Chesapeake Bay region. You can arrive on Friday evening or at any time on Saturday at the youth group site.  Saturday breakfast and lunch are up to you\, so bring your favorites!On Saturday afternoon\, we will relax at the beach. This is a great spot for fossil hunting or just sitting by the water's edge and listening to the gentle waves. In the evening\, we'll gather around the campfire for a cozy potluck dinner\, so please bring something delicious to share. On Sunday\, we'll keep breakfast simple with pancakes and sausage. We would love to see the youth join us\, but just a heads-up: this is not an official troop event\, and our scout leaders will be off duty. DESCRIPTION:Our troop has volunteered to staff a hydration station during the Charm City Run 12 Miler Event.  We will staff the 1st station\, located at the intersection of Charlesway and Charles Street\, across from GBMC. We ask volunteers to park in the emergency pull-off area of Charles St\, right before Charlesway.  Charles Street will be closed for the event\, which starts at 7:30 am.  Please arrive on time to be able to park in this area.\nWe will be responsible for setting up the tables\, adding water and ice to the provided coolers\, and beginning to fill cups. This is the first station\, so runners are still pretty bunched up at that point - the more volunteers\, the better\, as it will make our job easier. When runners pass by\, scouts will hold out the cups of water\, and runners will grab them on their way. The Charm City Run vehicle will follow the last runner\, and that's how we will know that we are done. It should be earlier than 9:00AM.\n Our theme for the station is "POOL PARTY"\, come dressed in your swim shorts\, fun Hawaiian shirt\, sunglasses\, and other beach/pool attire and accessories.\nRegistration: All of our volunteers must use the link below to sign up; scroll to Aid Station 1. DESCRIPTION:Important: The Youth Group Camp site is not located at the main park.  When getting onto Route 50 E\, take Exit 32 to Oceanic Drive.\nThe troop will meet at Scout Hall to pack the trailer at 6:30 PM. We will then carpool to Sandy Point State Park. Please note that the gate will be locked\, and anyone arriving late must contact Scoutmaster Mike at 443-388-1955 or Assistant Scoutmaster Mike DeFilippis at 443-790-3549 to have the gate opened. \nWe will be camping at the youth group site\, which has plenty of space for fishing from the shore of the Chesapeake Bay. This trip offers an excellent opportunity for Scouts to work on their Fishing Merit Badge. However\, all Scouts 16 years old and older must obtain a fishing license. Keep in mind that this is rockfish season\, and DNR will be patrolling the beaches.\nWe will be cooking by patrol\, so please ensure that your patrol has assigned a scout to handle shopping\, and that this scout plans to attend. Please remember to check the sign-up sheet to ensure an accurate headcount. \nOn Friday evening\, please dress in your Class A uniforms for travel. Don't forget to bring your scout book to get signed off on rank advancements. You may also want to pack water shoes and old shorts or swim trunks for wading into the water. SUMMARY:Graphic Arts Merit Badge Workshop 
DESCRIPTION:Get your creative juices flowing because were hosting a Graphics Art Merit Badge Workshop on Thursday\, October 30th\, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM at Scout Hall.  Remember to RSVP because supplies are limited! Please arrive on time and be ready to unleash your artistic talents! \nDuring our workshop\, every participant will design their very own relief piece on a foam plate. After that\, well dive into the relief printing process to create copies of your designs! This is a great way to check off requirements #3 and #4. Well also have a group discussion to tackle requirements #1\, #2\, #5\, and #7 while we watch some short videos related to our projects.  \nBut wait\, theres more! Ill have a screen printing press set up for you to try your hand at creating a simple\, pre-designed single-color screen print. If youve got a t-shirt\, sweatshirt\, or any cotton flat apparel (remember\, no white!)\, bring it along to transfer our troop logo! As mentioned at a troop meeting last season Scoutmaster would consider a forest green hooded sweatshirt with our troop logo part of the uniform\, this is your chance to create this. I have included a link to a dark green forest hoodie on Amazon\, just in case youre inspired to grab one. Order it on your own and dont forget to bring it to the workshop! However for the merit badge requirements any cotton apparel will do.\nTo clarify we will be working with permanent ink and highly recommend that scouts wear old clothes appropriate for painting. DESCRIPTION:Important Update: Troop will no longer camp Friday night.  We will camp Saturday into Sunday.  We will meet at Scout Hall Saturday morning at  7am  to pack the trailer.  From there we will carpool to Baltimore Bowmans arriving by 8 am.  After setting up camp we will cook breakfast and continue with our planned activities.Troop 742 and new recruits will camp for the weekend at Baltimore Bowmen's property. The Baltimore Bowmen is an archery club nestled in the Gunpowder Falls State Park system in Glen Arm\, Maryland. This will be tent camping and patrol cooking. Scouts will work on rank advancements and organize fun\, sport-themed games with the possibility of an archery activity. The troop will meet at Scout Hall at 6:30 pm on Friday to pack the trailer and carpool to the location. Please RSVP for this event using the signup link below. DESCRIPTION:This year\, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday\, December 13\, 2025. Join the more than two million volunteers and supporters who will gather to Remember\, Honor and Teach at more than 4\,900 participating locations in all 50 states\, at sea and abroad. Invite your network of friends\, family\, coworkers\, and organizations to join us as we strive to honor every veteran. Scouts will be participating in a remembrance ceremony and placing wreaths on marked graves. Please come in Class A uniforms.\n\n\nScouts will assemble at the cemetery no later than 11:20 a.m.  The earlier you arrive\, the better chance you have to park on cemetery grounds.  Please try to carpool as parking is limited on the grounds. The scouts will line up at 11:30 to process to the Circle Of Immortals and observe the participants as they enter the circle. DESCRIPTION:The troop will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday to pack the trailer and carpool to the site\, returning to Scout Hall by noon on Sunday. Scouts are released after the trailer (or gear) is unloaded. For families relatively new to Troop 742\, Grachur Weekend is an annual trip held at the Grachur Club campsite in Anne Arundel County. The scouts enjoy this traditional trip\, bunking in a large lodge while the rest find a cabin or tent.\nAs part of Grachur Weekend\, a family/alumni Thanksgiving Dinner is planned for Saturday evening. The scouts by patrol will prepare a dish for all guests. Generally\, families arrive around 5:00 pm\, and dinner is around 6:30/7:00. DESCRIPTION:Our annual mulch fundraiser has been scaled down to better suit our smaller troop. This year\, we will focus our sales on past customers\, so there is no need to distribute flyers in neighborhoods. Additionally\, we have condensed our work weekend to a one-day delivery event on Saturday\, April 11th.\n\nMulch Delivery Day is a significant event for our troop\, as it is our largest fundraiser of the season. We need everyone's help\, including parents\, to deliver bags. Please remember that all scouts are expected to participate. While this may seem like a lot of work\, it is one of the most anticipated events for our scouts. They have a lot of fun working together\, and the time passes quickly.\n\nParents\, we need drivers for chase cars and trucks for Saturday shifts. Without parent participation\, we cannot transport scouts to help unload the mulch trucks. Deliveries will start at 7 AM and continue until all bags are gone from the staging lot\, usually until around 6 PM. Please come dressed in old\, comfortable clothes that are appropriate for the weather\, as you will get dirty. We will ensure everyone is well-fed throughout the day\, and there will be a steady supply of snacks and drinks to keep our workers energized.\n\nI cannot stress enough how important this event is for team building amongst our scouts and parents. This is when great memories are made. We will share more information and the volunteer signup in the coming weeks. We need your help to make this a success\, so please sign up.

It's called Leaders Edge. So\, the Troop will reimburse the fee (at the early bird rate) if your Scout meets two conditions.The Scout must attend the training.The Scout must participate in the Charm City Run water station event on September 5. DESCRIPTION:Location: Meet at the intersection of Charlesway and Charles Street\, across from GBMC. We ask volunteers to park in the emergency pull-off area on Charles Street\, just before Charlesway.Time: 6:30 am - 9:00 amWe will be responsible for setting up the tables\, adding water and ice to the provided coolers\, and beginning to fill cups. This is the first station of the race\, so runners are still pretty bunched up at that point - the more volunteers\, the better. When runners pass by\, scouts will hold out the cups of water. This should end earlier than 9:00AM.  Our theme for the station is "Lumberjacks Under Attack"\, come dressed in your best flannel ready to fight for survival. Can't wait to see everyone there!For families relatively new to Troop 742\, the Grachur Weekend is a long-standing tradition held at the Grachur Club in Anne Arundel County. The scouts enjoy this trip by bunking in a large lodge\, while others may choose to stay in cabins or tents. During the morning\, they participate in a service project\, and in the evenings\, they play games and watch movies. The primary goal of this trip is to have fun and foster camaraderie among the scouts.As part of Grachur Weekend\, we will have a family/alumni Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday evening. The scouts will prepare a dish for all guests\, organized by patrol. Families typically arrive around 5:00 PM\, with dinner served around 6:30 to 7:00 PM.
