SUMMARY:Cub-O-Ree
DESCRIPTION:We'll join the rest of the Aquia District in a Minecraft themed campout featuring a Rock Wall\, Field Games\, Archery\, Crafts and Campfire Program (bring your skits!). Likely\, optional activities include a Cooking Competition for Webelos and AOL\, Best Campsite Competition including Themed Gate\, and Interfaith Service. Please RSVP in Scoutbook to reserve your spot. The Pack will register everyone who has RSVP'ed with the District. BTW\, all are welcome so be sure to bring the whole family\, but please make sure to list any other family members who are coming but can't RSVP in the comments. Registration for our Pack closes on Sep 18th (no exceptions). We'll collect any required fees no later than the September Pack Meeting.\nHere is important information about our fall campout. Key actions for you prior to arriving at camp:\n1) Did you RSVP for your family in Scoutbook? (RSVP closes on 18 Sep 25)\n2) Did you fill out the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record for everyone who is coming?\n3) Did you pay your fee to the Treasurer? \n4) Do you and your den have a plan for meals/snacks\, except for Saturday night dinner?\n5) Given the expected weather\, did you pack everything you need to have a fun weekend?\nFor our fall campout we will be participating in the Aquia District Cub-O-Ree at Camp Snyder located at 6100 Antioch Road\, Haymarket\, VA 20169. Families will have the opportunity to spend either both nights\, just Saturday night or just spend the day Saturday. Since this is a District event\, we will need to collect a fee to cover the Cub-O-Ree Registration Fees. For our scouts\, this includes a patch they will receive at a subsequent Pack Meeting. The fees are:\nYouth - $20 (includes a patch)\nAdult - $10\nPack members are welcome to begin arriving around 5:00 pm on Friday October 3\, or at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday October 4. We are still waiting to hear where we will be camping from the Cub-O-Ree Camp Director. We'll let you know as soon as we know. There are restrooms and showers onsite. Plan to park near the camping area but you will need to bring your equipment a short distance into the camping area. On arrival\, you can contact Laird Abbott at 540-841-3412 or Ryan LeBlanc at 214-578-4258\, should you have any questions or need assistance.\n\n\nThe Pack will provide Dinner on Saturday night\, which will consist of Hot Dogs\, Grilled Cheese and "Steve's Lava" Chicken along with French fries and mac & cheese. Our Grubmaster will handle purchasing these as well as any paper products/utensils we need. Den 4 will serve as our cooks while Den 9 will handle clean up. Throughout the weekend\, Den 1 will ensure our water and lemonade jugs are full. They will also offer hot chocolate and coffee during the cooler hours. We're asking Den 2 to provide additional sides for our Pack meal such as chips\, some sort of pre-packaged vegetable with dip\, etc. Meanwhile\, we are asking Dens 3 and 5 to provide a few desserts\, such as cookies or brownies\, and fruit. \n\n\nDen 10 will serve as our campfire builders and fire wardens throughout the weekend. The Pack will supply materials for SMORES on Saturday after the campfire program. The Pack will also likely provide a few cobblers for a good night snack prior to bedtime.\n\n\nFor all the other meals\, please plan to cook by families and/or Dens. Families/Dens are encouraged to practice safe food handling guidelines if sharing with each other. Please plan accordingly for your meals\, water\, food safety (temperatures) and kitchen sanitation (Hot Soapy Water Wash/Hot Clean Rinse Water/Cold Sanitized Rinse Water). If you have any questions or need help with the planning for this\, please ask your Den Leaders\, Pack Committee Members or Cubmaster Laird. We will be glad to help answer your questions.\n\n\nThe Pack will supply materials for SMORES as well as Cobbler on Saturday at the campfire. Families should bring any other snacks/food needed for the remainder of the weekend. The Pack will also provide Water and Lemonade for the Scouts and Parents. Any other beverages should be supplied by the family.\n\n\nThe question of what to bring depends on the level of comfort you hope to achieve. As a minimum\, each family must bring tents to house your family and adequate sleeping gear (i.e. sleeping bags/blankets/pillows). Other items you may wish to bring include a sleeping mattress and camp chair. A few other very important items include rain gear and proper footwear (closed toe shoes only). An extra pair of shoes\, in case the first pair gets wet\, is always a good idea. Your scout should bring their Six (6) Cub Scout Essentials (First Aid Kit\, Water Bottle\, Flashlight\, Trail Food\, Sunscreen\, Whistle) in a backpack they can carry. Please note\, only scouts who have earned their Knife Safety Adventure this year may carry a pocket knife. Families/scouts may bring a mess kit but we will have paper products and utensils available if you don't have one. Lastly\, we encourage our scouts to wear their Pack T-shirts throughout the weekend and to bring their Class A uniform for the more formal part of our campout. BTW\, if you don't have a tent\, please contact Cubmaster Laird so we can arrange to provide you one. The pack has several available.\n\n\nLooking for more useful tips on what to bring\, then check out this packing list from the BSA: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34-49.pdf\n\n\nScouting America has instituted new youth protection policies which affect who may stay in the same tent. Separate tenting arrangements must be provided for male and female adults as well as male and female youth unless they are from the same family. Adults and their children may stay in a single tent. Youth from the same family may share a tent. Youth from different families may share a tent so long as they are no more than 2 years apart in age. However\, adults may not stay in the same tent\, even if it has separate rooms\, with youth from another family.\n\n\nHealth and Safety - All participants must complete parts A\, B1 and B2 of the Scouting America Annual Health and Medical Record and provide it to Cubmaster Laird prior to the campout but no later than your arrival in camp. If you attended Camp Ross or Day Camp this summer\, we have a copy of your medical form so no need to provide a new one. For everyone else\, please download the form here under All Scouting Events: Annual Health and Medical Record: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/\n\n\nIn case we need to provide first aid\, we'll call on a few of our parents who are healthcare providers. We'll also place our Pack first aid kit in a prominent place in case of emergency. For very serious injuries or illnesses\, please contact Cubmaster Laird immediately to alert the camp health officer and activate emergency medical services.\n\n\nAlcoholic beverages\, firearms and non-prescription/non-over the counter drugs are strictly prohibited. Tobacco and/or vaping products may only be used in designated areas away from scouts.\n\n\nHazardous Weather - It is Virginia. Please monitor emails/text messages for possible postponement/cancellation of the overnight camping if the weather so dictates. Pack Leadership will be monitoring the weather throughout the campout to ensure safety of the Unit. We will have access to a pavilion at Curtis Park\, if we need to seek shelter from the weather. Please remember to pack accordingly\, to include rain gear and extra footwear if shoes become wet.\nFood Allergies - Please be cautious of food preparation and sharing\, as some may have food allergies.\nMedications -Please ensure you have all needed medications for yourself and your Scout(s). You'll need to keep it secure throughout the campout.\n\n\nCampout Agenda (We have not received the Cub-O-Ree agenda yet but think the campout will look similar to the below):\n\n\nFriday October 3:\n\n\n5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Arrive / Campsite and Gateway set-up / Family Time\n8:00 p.m. Cub-O-Ree Leaders Meeting\n9:00 p.m. Cub-O-Ree Lights Out\n10:00 p.m. Pack lights out\n\n\nSaturday October 4:\n07:00 a.m. - 08:15 a.m. Wake-up & Breakfast / Clean-up\n8:30 a.m. Pack welcome\, Introductions & Flag Ceremony\n8:50 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Cub-O-Ree Flag Ceremony\n9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.- Cub-O-Ree Activities\n12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Lunch\n1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Den Time (Skills/Skits/Songs/Knots/Adventures/Electives)\n2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. - Cub-O-Ree Activities\n5:00 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. Dinner\n6:00 p.m. Webelos/AOL Cooking Contest entries due to judges.\n6:50 p.m.- 7:00 Flag Ceremony\n7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Campfire Program\n9:00 p.m. Smores and Cobbler / Cub-O-Ree Lights Out\n10:00 p.m. Pack Quiet Hours\n\n\nSunday\, October 6\, 2024\n7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Wake-up & Breakfast / Campsite Tear Down\n8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Interfaith Worship Service \n9:00 a.m. Camp Departure\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Blue and Gold Banquet
DESCRIPTION:We'll celebrate Scouting's birthday and award the ranks our scouts have earned. After the awards ceremony\, we'll enjoy lunch and then a carnival hosted by our Bears. This is a whole family event so please be sure to bring everyone along The Pack is requesting each family provide an item for our Blue and Gold Banquet potluck. The centerpiece should be scouting themed with bonus points for incorporating a birthday celebration theme too.Second\, we'd ask each scout to create a poster of their favorite eagle scout to hang on the wall. It can be any eagle scout they choose whether it's a family member\, a friend or someone they researched on the internet.Third\, for any long-standing members of the Pack or our Alumni\, we will have a cub scout heritage display. Some of our alumni will be bringing items from the Pack's nearly 30 year history. Families should bring any other snacks/food needed for the remainder of the weekend. The Pack will also provide Water and Lemonade for the Scouts and Parents. Any other beverages should be supplied by the family. The question of what to bring depends on the level of comfort you hope to achieve. Lastly\, we encourage our scouts to wear their Pack T-shirts throughout the weekend and to bring their uniform for the more formal part of our campout. BTW\, if you don't have a tent\, please contact Cubmaster Laird so we can arrange to provide you one.Looking for more useful tips on what to bring\, then check out this packing list from the BSA: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34-49.pdfThe BSA has youth protection policies which affect who may stay in the same tent. Separate tenting arrangements must be provided for male and female adults as well as male and female youth unless they are from the same family. Adults and their children may stay in a single tent. Youth from the same family may share a tent. Youth from different families may share a tent so long as they are no more than 2 years apart in age. However\, adults may not stay in the same tent\, even if it has separate rooms\, with youth from another family.Health and Safety All participants must complete parts A\, B1 and B2 of the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record and provide it to Cubmaster Laird prior to the campout but no later than your arrival in camp.
